Unit Description

 

In this unit, students will read and demonstrate their understanding and appreciation of a variety of French North American twentieth century legends and short stories. Students will apply appropriate strategies to read, understand, interpret and present information in light of the Gospel values. They will also develop knowledge of French language vocabulary through grammar and punctuation. They will apply their learning in reading, writing and oral discussions and presentations. This unit will culminate in the presentation of an original legend.

Unit Planning Notes

 

After a brief review of the grade 8 language component, incorporate the following language conventions to this unit:      1. passé composé avec auxiliaire être

                                        5. homophones

                                        6. expressions idiomatiques et proverbes

The appendice 1i (grille d’observation de l’enseignant) can be used at any time to assess students’ performance.

 

Prior Knowledge Required

 

Students are expected to have successfully completed the grade 8 Immersion program. The knowledge of three elements of the narrative text (introduction, development and conclusion) are a prerequisite.

Description: L’apprenant va reconnaître les éléments caractéristiques de la légende et du conte et pourra distinguer les similarités et les différences. Il pourra découvrir l’intention de l’auteur et comparer les valeurs morales du texte aux valeurs morales catholiques.

      faire ressortir les éléments caractéristiques de la légende et du conte et faire découvrir l’intention de l’auteur en exploitant à l’oral le texte choisi

      sélectionner un texte à être exploité et complété à l’écrit par l’apprenant

Description: L’apprenant va analyser les personnages et les thèmes après avoir lu une légende / un conte. Il pourra découvrir les valeurs morales et sociales pour pouvoir les interpréter selon ses propres valeurs catholiques.
