Grants for Teachers
Curriculum Services Canada's (CSC) affiliate and charitable arm, The Curriculum Foundation (TCF) supports a Grants for Educators Program through which educators are provided a professional growth opportunity. Canadian educators can apply their professional knowledge and skills as they participate in a learning community with their peers.
With the support of private donors, and selected corporations and foundations, a number of grants are awarded annually to educators who demonstrate how participation in the grants program will support and enhance instruction and student learning. An independent selection panel chooses the most promising applications. To date, more than $200,000 has been invested in educators who have developed high quality resources that are available for download from our website. The Professional Learning Experience
In today's society, educators are encouraged to hone their skills through collaborative inquiry with their colleagues. TCF recognizes the importance of this direction taken by the education community and is supporting educators in this process. Each year, a Professional Learning Community (PLC) of grant recipients is created around a specific area of focus.
Through the PLC, TCF facilitates grant recipients as they deepen their understanding of the development process and apply their curriculum and pedagogical expertise in designing quality learning resources. TCF provides experienced educators who guide grant recipients through the professional growth process. Collaborating with their peers in a learning community, grant recipients expand their professional expertise as they produce learning resources that meet the high standards demanded by CSC. Through the process, grant recipients gain many transferrable skills that they can apply in their daily practice and can share with their colleagues.
Types of Grants
TCF offers two types of grants:
- General Grants for certified Canadian educators
- Janice Thomson Memorial Grant for Ontario secondary educators
